Privacy

The short version

This website sets no cookies. It embeds no analytics or advertising tools, loads no fonts from outside servers and has no contact form. We build no user profiles and pass nothing to advertising networks.

What does come up is set out below. There is little of it.

Compass Nomad is based in Morocco, outside the European Union. Because the offer is directed at travellers in the EU, we apply the European General Data Protection Regulation (Article 3(2) GDPR). Moroccan data protection law, Loi 09-08, applies to us in addition.

We have not appointed a representative in the Union under Article 27 GDPR. Processing is limited to occasional enquiries and the server logs that are technically necessary. We do not process special categories of personal data.

When you open this website

The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open a page, your browser transmits technical details which are logged there briefly:

• IP address
• date and time of the request
• the address requested
• browser and operating system
• the page visited before, if your browser sends it

Without these details no page can be delivered. They serve the operation and security of the site, for instance to fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning offer (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept only briefly and are not combined with other data.

Processing in the United States

Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Processing also takes place on servers in the United States, that is in a country outside the EU.

For this transfer Cloudflare relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and on its certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

A level of protection equivalent to the European one in every respect cannot be assured; access by US authorities cannot be fully ruled out. We consider the risk low, because opening this site produces nothing beyond the technical details listed above.

Fonts

The fonts on this site sit on the same server as the site itself. There is no connection to Google Fonts or any other outside service.

When you write to us

If you write to us by email or on WhatsApp, we process what you send in order to answer your enquiry and prepare a journey (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

The WhatsApp button on this site opens WhatsApp. At that point you leave this website. Processing there is the responsibility of WhatsApp Ireland Limited and their terms apply. If you would rather not, send us an email.

Email to contact@compassnomadmorocco.com is forwarded through Cloudflare to our mailbox.

We keep enquiries for as long as they are needed to deal with your request and any follow-up questions, and delete them afterwards.

Passing data on

We do not sell data and do not pass it on for advertising. If we introduce you to a host or another service, we pass on only what is needed for that, and only if you ask us to.

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you and request its correction or deletion, the restriction of processing, and a copy in a common format. You can object to processing and withdraw consent you have given at any time.

A short message to contact@compassnomadmorocco.com is enough. We answer within one month.

If you believe we are handling your data wrongly, you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, usually the one where you live. In Morocco the CNDP is responsible.

Changes

When the website changes, this text changes with it. The version shown here is the one that applies.
